We have received a few questions regarding DisplayNames, mainly if and when we will be implementing them on the grid. However, after careful consideration and quite a bit of internal debate we have drawn the conclusion that we will not be implementing them on the grid. There are a few reasons for that. Mainly the obfuscation of names, which will lead to confusion all the way to the inability to trace users in case of rule or guideline violations. Additionally the implementation as it exists is not up to the standards we commonly see and lacks specific safeguards against abuse or ways for the grid adiministration to see the underlying usernames. These, among other, reasons led us to decide against DisplayNames as they currently exist. Should the implementation change and provide the additional requirements we have then we may open up another internal debate regarding their use on the grid in the future.
